Privacy Policy
Your privacy is fundamental to everything we build. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.
Last updated: July 15, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, information generated through your use of VibsZ, and limited information from third-party sources. We are committed to collecting only what is necessary to deliver our service.
Information You Provide
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your display name, email address, date of birth, and profile photo (optional).
- Profile data: Interests, bio text, and vibe preferences you choose to share.
- Communications: Messages you send through VibsZ, feedback you submit, and support requests.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: With your explicit permission, we collect your approximate location to connect you with nearby people. We never store precise GPS coordinates on our servers — only proximity zones.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, app version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: Features you interact with, time spent in the app, and general activity patterns (aggregated and anonymised).
Information from Third Parties
If you choose to sign in with a third-party service (Google, Apple), we receive only the information you authorise — typically your name and email address. We never post on your behalf or access your contacts without explicit consent.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve VibsZ services
- Match you with nearby people based on shared vibes and proximity
- Send service-related notifications (connection requests, messages, safety alerts)
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our community guidelines
- Conduct research and analytics to improve user experience (always in aggregated, de-identified form)
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your display name, profile photo, vibe status, and approximate proximity are visible to nearby users when you are active.
- Service providers: Trusted vendors who help us operate (cloud hosting, analytics, push notifications) under strict data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our users.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — with prior notice to you.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3), encryption at rest (AES-256), regular security audits, and access controls. While no system is 100% secure, we are committed to protecting your data with best-in-class practices.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and obtain a summary of processing activities
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data and keep your information up to date
- Erase your personal data by deleting your account (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity
- Withdraw consent for location sharing or optional data collection at any time (withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing)
- Grievance redressal — file a complaint with our Grievance Officer or the Data Protection Board of India
You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app under Settings → Privacy. For requests we cannot handle in-app, contact our Grievance Officer at founder@vibsz.com.
7. Location Data
Location is core to VibsZ — it powers the proximity discovery that makes our app unique. Here is how we handle it responsibly:
- Location sharing is always opt-in and can be disabled at any time
- We use proximity zones (not exact coordinates) to connect nearby users
- Your location history is never stored — we only use real-time position
- You can appear as "nearby" without revealing your exact location to others
- Ghost mode allows you to browse without being visible to others
8. Children's Privacy
VibsZ is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.
9. Data Storage and Transfer
Your personal data is primarily stored on servers located in India. Where data is transferred outside India for processing (e.g., cloud infrastructure), we ensure that the receiving country or entity provides adequate data protection as prescribed under the DPDP Act, 2023 and rules notified by the Central Government. We do not transfer data to countries restricted by the Government of India.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of VibsZ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
